In most cars you have first to turn off the engine and lock the steering wheel before being able to take out the key. If the wheel is "leaning " on the lock mechanism on one side or the other, the key may be hard to pull out - turn slightly the wheel in the opposite direction to unload the lock and the key should be easy to take out. On some cars the locking movement may involve a slight downward push on the key. Do not use force, broken keys (and locks) cost a lot nowadays.
