Question: How do i change the engine timing on my 1991 holden nova sl le 1.4l?

I own a holden nova SL LE 1.4L ( Toyota Corolla AE92 1.4L) i want to know how to change the timing of the engine and how to do it correctly. my car is idlling funny and is very shaky so i want to try and change the timing properly so i can fix this problem without spending money on a mechanic.

Ignition timing prety much set by the computer unless your car is very old technology. crank shaft timing? you need to get access to the timing belt. that is a tricky job n you definetly need a manual eg haynes manual for your car. When i first changed the timing belt i used haynes manual. BTW if engine is shaky there could be other things that may b wrong: eg bad spark plug wires, bad spark plug(s), distributor, engine mount.........
