California. When I was there 20 months ago the license plates $s were 6 with 3 #s & 3 letters following. to fine the # of cars you would 1. Multiply the # of letters in the alphabet (26) x 26 x 26 2. Multiply the #s 10 x 10 x10 3. Multiply the answers of 1 x 2 x the first # (6) in this case to fine the # of cars in Ca. This is not counting the truck licenses, old style plates or Vanity plates. It would be minus the # of wrecked cars with pulled plates.

The answer would likely be the same states with the highest populations. As someone stated earlier, the factors for determining the number of cars registered in California would actually determine the total number of cars POSSIBLE to register using such a formula, not the ACTUAL number registered.
